Nail art

Monday, June 13, 2011

One of my current roomies is an artist. And not just any artist but one of those artists that are good at all kinds of art. Like painting, sculptures, drawing, oh and NAIL ART, too! I've posted my absolute favourite nails before (I'll post them again), then she created these:

JM referred to them as my "Go get 'em tiger" nails. Hand painted. Unreal, right? These are the other ones that I loved:

And, finally, I borrowed O.P.I crackle from LB at work. And the crackle gave me these amazing nails:

What to do next?

Designs 'n stuff

Saturday, April 30, 2011

I found this online the other day and it made me want to make an Ontario version. That being said, I've decided that I need to up my photoshop skills. I have been neglecting them lately, but after playing around with some images at work, I've realized how much I actually enjoy playing around with colours and images.

So, I'm going to attempt an Ontario "love" poster.
Wish me luck!

Creative Inspiration

Tuesday, May 25, 2010

Sometimes things spark my creative side. I miss that.  I haven't drawn or painted in... over a year (oh that's bad!).

I find the Surfers lifestyle slightly uninspired (unless, of course, you are inspired by streets full of bars and kebabs). The beach life is amazing, but it lacks in most things artsy... but hey, to each their own!

Then I wandered into a few stores in Byron. I wish I could remember the store, but it was an independent designer shop that was full of cutesy clothes and fun things- like this:

TEACUP lights! I mean, I probably wouldn't put it in my place (not that I have a place to put things) but I love the idea and it fit the shop so well!

Another shop had all the jewelry displayed on a tree branch spray painted gold with sparkles on top!:

Ok, I'd definitely put this in my (potential) place.  Love it!

Perhaps this is cause for some art creations... Maybe a little drawing? Sculpture? Awesome gold painted tree branches that I can cover in GLITTER? Umm Yesss!

DIY postcard clothes line!

Monday, April 12, 2010

Hello again! Jenna here with a quick DIY tutorial for those of you who, like me, have friends living all over the world sending you awesome postcards! I love my postcards but was getting sick of them being covered up by magnets and just looking messy on the fridge. So with a few items from the dollar store and about 15 minutes, I wipped up a cute and easy postcard clothes line :)

My messy looking fridge!

What you need:

  • postcards from your favourite people
  • clothes pins
  • ribbon
  • white paint
  • paint brush

I found it much easier to paint the clothes pins by cutting off the top of a used tissue box (it beats getting paint all over your hands)

The finished product - just use 2 thumbtacks to hang the ribbon in place.

My new postcard clothes line hanging up by the front door :)

p.s. this would also work great with photos!
