JK informed me of this fantastically crazy site that uses Google Chrome, Google Maps and the amazing music of Arcade Fire.

The Song I'm Currently Digging

It's all over the radio and I recently found out that DT toured with them (perhaps I should have been around more over the last 5 years...) But I digress. Down With Webster. Canadian. Amazing.

The Real World: Sydney (again)
Sunday, August 22, 2010
I visited Sydney a bunch of times over the last year. The Culture. The Shopping. The Sights. The Sounds-- I couldn't get enough of it!
This is one a few photos from a photoshoot around Sydney when my friend SB came to visit! I absolutely love this dress from Myer! (Pretty colours, one shoulder ruffle... cute, non?)
Really, if you haven't been to Sydney, you need to add it to your list of places to visit!
That being said, if you haven't managed to make to Australia at all, I highly recommend it! (and miss it dearly!)

From the Inspiration Files
You know, I really need to get a place, heaps of money, and access to the best design stores!
Once again-- I love these designs (the reason they are in the creative inspiration files!) if they are yours- let me know so I can give credit where credit is due!
Getting Your Way: 101
Fantastic image, I reckon! Found here
If you've ever worked in any kind of customer service, you'll understand that yelling at people will never get you ahead-- ever.
I always liked to think, "Ok, you're yelling at me because you used this product for 6 months and the plastic thingermabobber fell off when you threw it off your balcony? and you want a full refund?*"... Oh, people!
Anyway, I was reading the Harvard Business Review (yeah, yeah, geek, I know) and I came across this article about how to get your way... THE NICE WAY!
It's really worth a read: Live Life As An Experiment
As the author writes: "when we live life as an experiment, we are far more willing to take risks, to acknowledge failure, to learn and develop. That's what experiments are all about: discovery and growth"
Maybe nice guys finish first?
*Not an actual story, but it feels pretty accurate, doesn't it?
Playing With Light
Tuesday, August 17, 2010
There was this amazing lightening storm the other night. No rain at all, just a mass amount of lightening in the sky! I love that. I tried to get a few shots, but alas my point and shoot mixed with quick and erratic lightening produced less than blog worthy images.
Then I decided to play with the light because... well, because why not?!
Then I decided to play with the light because... well, because why not?!
This was the final attempt to get my name. I seemed to have missed the 'S' sort of...
And unfortunately, blogger doesn't want to allow me to post anymore at this time, so I will leave you with the super strange 'me in a few places' shot. Weird. But geeze, I love cameras!
Run The Town
Saturday, August 14, 2010
It's been a while since Ben Affleck made a movie that I really really wanted to see. Ok, there was He's Just Not That Into You but there was also Jersey Girl (sorry, Kevin Smith) and Gigli... point taken, I think!
So during the ads for Inception (see that one if you get a chance-- fantastic!) they showed this preview for The Town:
OHHHHH how good does this movie look? I swear the entire theatre gasped when he took off the mask...
What do you think? Anyone else going to see it?

Pulled, in no particular order, from my design living inspiration files:
Do you do this, too? I have a few files in my "Imagine" folder: Design Living, Creative Inspiration and Fashion Inspiration. Once and a while I sort through them and imagine what my place/ my look would be if I had endless amounts of money... one day!
*Since I've saved them to my computer I have no recollection where I found them. If they are yours please let me know so I can give credit where credit is due!
Songs of Summer
Tuesday, August 10, 2010
I came across this the other day. I like it for several reasons, but the most important reason is definitely the guy drinking from the goon bag. Pure class.
What do you think? Song for the summer time?

I woke up this morning and it was cloudy. Figures as it's one of my few days off so why would it be sunny right? (ok, I can't complain I spent the better part of the last year basking in the hot Australian sun) but I digress. This basically just meant that it wasn't a prime swimming day, but I headed over the KP's house mid-morning to eat some delicious corn and smoked bacon chowder home made by Mamma P herself! yum!
So this Monday turned from blah and rainy to one of the best days in ages! Thanks, JK!
Have you been to any great shows lately??
I ended up back at home mid-afternoon and was catching up on.... ok, I was catching up on Jersey Shore (FIST PUMP!) but shh and doing some facebook creeping (what else is there to do on a rainy Monday?) Well low and behold my facebooking turned into TICKETS TO MICHAEL BUBLE!
Long story short, my old high school friend JK had an extra ticket and I was the first to respond- so volia! He and I ended up grabbing drinks and food at Waldo's on King St. and taking in the show...
Buble put on a fantastic show. He interacted with the audience, sang some crowd pleasers and had the entire audience twisting and shouting- an homage to Ferris Beullers Day Off. It was great! We ended up a dozen rows back... not back for a free show!
He also played one of my favourites (and also one that played about 100 times a day on TV in Australia during the Olympics!):

Friday Afternoon on the 401
Sunday, August 8, 2010
On Friday I did the overly awful morning rush hour drive from my city to Toronto. It's about 2 1/2 hours if the traffic is good... but we're talking the 401 in rush hour--ugh.
Stop. Go. Stop. Go. Cut someone off. Slam on breaks. Stop. GO FAST. Slow down.... AHHH
Looks a little something like this... (found here)
The day was good, but I'm not all that keen on this whole driving through rush hour traffic... Next time, VIA Rail!
Excuse me, I believe I ordered the LARGE Cappuccino

I wish I could find a better (longer)* clip from So I Married An Axe Murder. It's one of my personal favourites.

Pumps, Wedges and Flats OH MY!
Tuesday, August 3, 2010
A wise friend once told me that pay checks have to LEAVE the store. Well this (I am, of course, talking about me) unwise listener did not take that advice and has accidently bought a pair of shoes a week since employment commenced. Oops.
I am literally surrounded by shoes nearly everyday. I may not like the majority of these shoes but I still quite like looking at them, judging them and helping spend other peoples money. So while at first glance I found not one pair that tickled my fancy, I did a little searching and uncovered some gems.
To the jury, may I present Exhibit A-C:
Pair one: Practical and from my favourite shoe store across the street (but still affiliated- so it counts). DKNY flats.

OK, so not entirely practical. By the end of 8 hours my feet want to fall off...but cute, non?
Pair 2: Minnetonka Moccasins! Now really, the previous pair make my feet want to die, so I rotate between the DKNY and these beauties:
Yeah, yeah... I look like I'm wearing slippers at work. But geeze, they are mighty comfy! I rarely say comfort over style, but 8 hours at work and there's no chance I putting my feet in beastly, disgusting sneakers by a company that shall remain anonymous, but which I truly dislike. No way, Jose!
And then today I bought these amazing BCBG heels which I can't seem to find a picture of online, but I can assure you they are fantastic. *UPDATE:
*Ah, the amazingness of webcams!
So if you catch me at Barneys, I will likely be wearing one of the 3 new pairs!
To be fair, though, 2 we're totally justifiable.... right?
